Job description

We are excited to be advertising for a Registered Nurse for the Specialist Learning Disability Service with a focus on mental health and children with a Learning Disability.

Service Overview

The Service consists of Learning Disability and other registered nurses, Clinical Psychologists, Positive Behaviour Support Practitioners, Occupational Therapists, and Assistant Practitioners. It offers a range of services for children and adolescents with diagnosed Learning Disabilities and Autism, including assessment, intervention, consultation, liaison, and training for other agencies.

The service supports Children & Adolescents with moderate to profound Learning Disabilities, especially those with complex behavioral, health, or sleep issues related to these diagnoses.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Work within the Specialist Learning Disability Service, providing support and supervision to clinicians across the service and all other integrated pathways.
  2. Ensure a strengths-based approach to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate interventions to support complex care packages for children with additional needs in the community.
  3. Contribute to risk assessment and care planning in collaboration with children, young people, and their carers.
  4. Provide assessment, advice, and specialist interventions to children, young people, and their families, managing a caseload of children with complex needs.
  5. Lead on mental health needs for children and young people with a Learning Disability.
  6. Manage cases of children and young people with highly complex long-term conditions, utilizing evidence-based care approaches.
