4. Salary: £45,504 - £71,550 per annum (pro rata)
5. Distant Island Allowance: £2,380 per annum (pro rata)

Role Overview

Applications are invited for a unique Anaesthetic Locum Training post in Remote and Rural Anaesthesia at Gilbert Bain Hospital in the Shetland Islands. This role offers experience in a remote island hospital and is suitable for trainees at ST6/ST7 stage considering work in remote UK regions. It provides broad experience in a senior generalist post prior to becoming a consultant.

The post is recognized by The Royal College of Anaesthetists for advanced training and involves elective and emergency anaesthetic and critical care services for all age groups, supported by hospital teams, Scottish retrieval services, and mainland colleagues. There are opportunities for non-clinical hospital management experience and training contributions across the Board.

Eligibility and Application

• Must have an MBChB or recognized equivalent and FRCA or recognized equivalent.
• Must be in a Type I training post, hold a National/Visiting Training Number, and be at ST6 or ST7 at the start.
