Interview process: Two-stage interview process

Working pattern: On-site, Monday-Friday, 09:00-17:00

The Role:

The primary focus is to execute the microbiological testing program, delivering accurate, timely, and reliable results to support business decisions and ensure food safety and quality. You will also contribute to process improvements, problem-solving initiatives, and new product development.

  • Conduct microbiology tests, interpret results with scientific knowledge and risk assessment.
  • Follow safety and housekeeping protocols, report hazards promptly.
  • Assist in internal audits and laboratory accreditation processes.
  • Validate, troubleshoot, and monitor lab methods and equipment; train team members as needed.
  • Coordinate external testing when necessary.
  • Perform routine maintenance and calibration of equipment.
  • Support the Lab Manager or Lab Analyst as deputy, supporting risk assessments.
Requirements:
  • Biology, A-level or equivalent, or a science-related degree or relevant lab experience.
  • Microbiology or Chemistry professional experience.
  • Understanding of basic statistics and ISO 17025 accreditation.
  • Technical microbiology skills, including PCR, are beneficial.
  • Strong planning, organizational, time-management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to make decisions and understand their impact and urgency.
  • Alignment with Weetabix values.
  • Curiosity and a drive to find new ways of doing business.
  • Ability to stay updated in your field of expertise.
Nice to Haves:
  • Laboratory experience with ISO 17025 accreditation and Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
