Job summary

NHS Lanarkshire is seeking a Lead Biomedical Scientist to manage TB/Bacteriology/Mycology services across three acute hospitals. You will supervise staff, oversee training, and ensure delivery of high-quality laboratory services in alignment with NHS policies.

You will interpret policies, drive service development, manage equipment and reagents budgets, and represent the service at regional and national meetings to implement agreed policies.

Qualifications

• Registration with the Health Professions Council in Biomedical Science and/or Higher Specialist in TB/Bacteriology/Mycology.
• Fellowship of the Institute of Biomedical Science.
• Management experience and knowledge appropriate to the post.
• Evidence of continuing professional development to a highly developed, specialist level including clinical & scientific skills and service development.

Responsibilities

• Deliver TB/Bacteriology/Mycology services across NHS Lanarkshire hospitals maintaining high patient care standards.
• Lead staff development, training and governance for the service.
• Manage budgets for reagents and supplies and equipment selection.
• Represent the service at regional and national meetings and implement policies.
