Job summary

Tesco is seeking Senior Software Development Engineers to design and deliver robust Java-based software that powers customer experiences. You’ll own development and support, mentor peers, and drive reliability and performance across microservices in Azure and CI/CD pipelines.

You'll collaborate across teams, apply security-first principles, and contribute to architecture decisions while advancing automation, testing, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Solid experience delivering Java (or JVM languages) with familiarity to JS/TypeScript a plus.
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and infrastructure automation (Terraform).
• Strong SQL (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (Cosmos DB) knowledge.
• Monitoring tools: Splunk, xMatters, New Relic.
• Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) and strong English communication.

Responsibilities

• Develop high-quality software solutions with Java and related JVM languages.
• Work with Azure and Terraform for infrastructure automation; learn as needed.
• Implement CI/CD best practices for seamless delivery.
• Maintain thorough development documentation and design records.
• Drive reliability, maintainability and performance across systems.
• Mentor engineers and foster a collaborative, growth-focused culture.
• Automate workflows and build tools to improve efficiency.
