Job summary

Tesco is seeking an SDE3 to provide technical leadership for medium to large features, shaping design, and delivering end-to-end software within a hybrid work model.

You will develop Java-based solutions (Spring Boot/Micronaut), work with Azure and Terraform for infrastructure, and promote CI/CD, code quality, and security practices while mentoring peers and driving reliability across services.

Qualifications

• Solid experience delivering Java or other JVM languages; familiarity with JS/TypeScript is a plus.
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and infrastructure automation (Terraform).
• Good understanding of SQL (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., Cosmos DB).
• Familiarity with monitoring and alerting tools (Splunk, xMatters, New Relic).
• Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban)
• Good English communication skills
• Experience in system design
• Experience in taking ownership of a project and leading a team from technical/ project perspective
• Proactive attitude

Responsibilities

• Develop high-quality software solutions with proficiency in Java and JVM languages.
• Lead medium to large features and participate in design and delivery.
• Support other engineers and mentor teammates.
• Implement and advocate CI/CD best practices for seamless delivery.
• Maintain high-quality documentation to support development processes.
• Apply architectural standards including security-first thinking (Snyk/Apiiro).
• Ensure solutions are robust, scalable, and perform well.
• Take ownership of systems to drive reliability and maintainability.
• Automate workflows and build tools/scripts to improve efficiency.
