Job summary

Global Payments in the United Kingdom is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Worldwide Payments Gateway team. You will contribute code, provide technical leadership, and help the team deliver high-quality software across Java, Oracle, and Linux environments.

You will collaborate with the Development Manager, refine requirements, and drive improvements in engineering practices while maintaining a client-focused mindset and accountability for outcomes.

Qualifications

• Proven experience and/or a genuine passion for software development
• Degree level education (in related subject of computing, math, science) or equivalent
• Knowledge/practical application of agile methodologies
• Track record in delivering work to schedule and to specification
• Experience of Software development on Java, Oracle and Linux technologies

• Experience of Rest API

Responsibilities

• Produce well structured, maintainable, reliable and fit for purpose code at an accepted level of quality
• Refine and break down business requirements in work items the team can implement
• Support the technical lead, liaising with Architecture and other stakeholders on technical matters
• Proactively identify and suggest improvements and enhancements to working practices to team and departmental level
• Demonstrate a can-do attitude and a sense of responsibility for the wider implications of software engineering
• Demonstrate a flexible approach necessary for the role as business requirements and their relative priorities are subject to review and change
