Job summary

The University of Dundee's Digital & Technology Services seeks an IT Operations Specialist to join the Advanced Computing & Infrastructure team. You will provide second-line, advanced technical support and lead operational activities across core IT services to ensure reliable incident resolution and service continuity.

You will be based across multiple campus locations, with a mix of on-site and remote working and regular travel to Dundee City Centre, Ninewells, and Kirkcaldy campuses to support

Qualifications

• Significant experience in IT operations and infrastructure support.
• Strong analytical problem-solving skills with complex incident experience.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools, incident management, and operational processes.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced technical support across network, infrastructure, and security systems.
• Act as escalation point for IT Operations Officers and complex incidents.
• Lead investigation and diagnosis of high-priority or complex service issues.
• Guide operational staff in incident response and troubleshooting.
• Develop and optimise monitoring, alerting and operational processes.
• Coordinate with Engineers to align operational and technical activities.
• Support cyber security monitoring, incident response and escalation.
• Assist in planning and implementing maintenance and change activities.
• Maintain documentation, knowledge bases and procedures.
• Identify opportunities for service improvement and drive continuous improvement.
• Participate in on-call arrangements as required.
