Job description

Senior IT Officer & Data Administrator | £38,000 to £42,000 | Cambridge, On-Site Working

This is a rare opportunity to work for one of Cambridge’s most prestigious Education Institutes, where tradition meets cutting-edge technology. You will be part of a collaborative and supportive team, with the autonomy to make a lasting impact on the digital future.

This is a key technical role, responsible for the development, maintenance, and support of the IT systems, server and cloud infrastructure, and data integration's. You will ensure the databases and IT services are robust, secure, and fit for purpose. You will also support strategic planning by contributing expert technical insights and assist the IT Manager with the delivery of critical infrastructure and system improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain both physical and virtual server infrastructure.
  • Support hardware and software life-cyclemanagement, advising on upgrades and replacements.
  • Develop and maintain reliable data integration'sbetween internal systems and external services.
  • Manage the database infrastructure and associated documentation.
  • Project manage IT related projects.
Essential Skills:
  • Demonstrable experience in managing databases and Windows server infrastructure, including Windows Server 2016 onwards and VMWare.
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server (2017 and later), including SSMS and other SQL tools.
  • Proficiency in T-SQL and PowerShell scripting.
  • Experience with data integration tools such as Node-RED.
