Job Description

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Manage the SQL Estate daily, ensuring service availability, operational Failover Clusters, and high availability.
2. Handle database backups and restorations per contractual requirements.
3. Adhere to policies, standards, procedures, and rules for database management.
4. Monitor SQL performance and stability to minimize downtime.
5. Build SQL Servers and services based on user needs.
6. Test and administer database security and recovery procedures.
7. Coordinate with customers to resolve issues promptly.
8. Perform additional duties as circumstances change, maintaining flexibility.
9. Participate in ongoing review and improvement of job practices.

Qualifications

Skills and qualities required include:

1. Strong SQL Server knowledge, including administration and troubleshooting (SQL Server 2008+).
2. Proficiency in stored procedures, replication, and query tuning.
3. Experience leading multiple projects and managing priorities.
4. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
5. Ability to work in a complex, dynamic environment.
6. Relationship-building skills with business functions and stakeholders.
7. Good knowledge of Windows Server technologies (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP).
8. Understanding of backup technologies and incident/change management.
9. Basic networking knowledge (routing, firewalls).
