Job summary

The Senior Auditor role within Cheshire West and Chester Council provides risk-based internal audit across a broad range of services, delivering independent assurance on governance, risk management and controls. The role involves interviewing staff, analysing financial and non-financial information, and communicating practical recommendations to managers.

You will plan and deliver audit assignments, evaluate evidence, and identify opportunities to strengthen controls and improve services.

Qualifications

• Experience in internal audit following professional standards.
• Desirable professional qualification (e.g. CIA, CIPFA) or equivalent experience.
• Willingness to travel across the Borough and work flexibly as part of the Assurance service.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver risk-based internal audits across Council services.
• Analyse evidence and communicate clear, practical findings and recommendations to managers.
• Contribute to the wider Assurance service, safeguarding public resources and managing fraud risk.
