Job summary

Southandvale is seeking an Internal Audit and Risk Manager to lead the council's Internal Audit, Risk Management and Insurance functions, providing independent assurance and strengthening governance through risk-informed decision-making.

The role requires professional qualifications in internal audit or related disciplines and a strong understanding of governance, risk management, and internal control principles. Visa sponsorship is not available; candidates must have the right to work in the UK.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of governance, risk management and internal control principles.
• Experience leading internal audit or assurance functions is essential.
• Ability to provide advisory services on governance, risk and control matters.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of the Internal Audit service in line with GIAR and public sector guidance.
• Develop and implement a risk-based Annual Internal Audit Plan.
• Provide professional assurance and advisory services to management on governance, risk and control matters.
• Lead the Risk and Insurance Team in delivering the corporate risk management framework and insurance policies and budgets.
• Support the governance framework and advise on internal control arrangements.
