Job summary

South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse District Councils (trading as South & Vale) are seeking an Internal Audit and Risk Manager to lead the council's Internal Audit, Risk Management and Insurance functions, providing independent assurance and strengthening governance.

You will support risk-informed decision making, develop an annual audit plan, advise management on governance and control matters, and lead the Risk and Insurance Team to deliver robust corporate risk management.

Qualifications

• Professional qualification in Internal Audit, Risk Management, Accountancy or related discipline (e.g. CMIIA, CIA, ACCA, CIPFA, CIMA, IRM Certificate/Diploma) or significant demonstrable experience.
• Knowledge of governance, risk management and internal control principles.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of the Internal Audit service in accordance with GIAS and relevant public sector guidance.
• Develop and implement a risk-based annual Internal Audit Plan.
• Provide professional assurance and advisory services to management on governance, risk and control matters.
• Provide leadership and guidance to the Risk and Insurance Team Leader in delivering the corporate risk management framework and managing the councils' insurance policies and budgets.
• Support the councils' governance framework and provide advice on internal control arrangements and governance issues.
