Job summary

South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse District Councils, trading as South & Vale, are seeking an Internal Audit and Risk Manager to lead internal audit, risk management and insurance functions. You will provide independent assurance, strengthen governance and support risk-informed decision making across the Council.

Qualifications

• Professional qualification in Internal Audit, Risk Management, Accountancy or related discipline or significant demonstrable experience.
• Knowledge of governance, risk management and internal control principles.
• Experience in public sector governance and assurance is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of the Internal Audit service in accordance with GIAS and relevant public sector guidance.
• Develop and implement a risk-based annual Internal Audit Plan.
• Provide professional assurance and advisory services to management on governance, risk and control matters.
• Provide leadership to the Risk and Insurance Team Leader in delivering the corporate risk management framework and insurance policies and budgets.
• Support the councils' governance framework and provide advice on internal control arrangements and governance issues.
