Job summary

Derby City Council is seeking a Senior Auditor to join the CMAP partnership. You will advise on internal controls, undertake audits across partner organisations and report findings with formal recommendations to strengthen governance. The role requires strong analytical skills and experience in public sector auditing.

You will work 37 hours per week in a permanent, full-time role with a salary between £38,510 and £41,177 per year. Closing date 30 November 2026.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years audit experience
• Good working knowledge of risk and system-based internal auditing
• Ability to deliver high-quality internal audit assignments on time and within budget
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Proficiency in data analytics and audit lifecycle software

Responsibilities

• Advise on development and improvement of internal control environment
• Undertake internal audit work across partner organisations and compile audit reports with recommendations
• Gather, analyse and interpret large volumes of information in line with management
• Provide guidance on new systems and on control issues across the Partnership
• Assist with investigations into control breakdowns, fraud or corruption in line with policies
• Ensure all work conforms with Global Internal Audit Standards
