Job summary

Wbg in Glasgow is seeking an Internal Audit Senior to lead audits for a diverse UK client base, including public sector bodies, housing associations, charities, and education institutions. You’ll plan, execute, and deliver high‑quality audits with strong recommendations to strengthen governance and controls.

You will mentor trainees and liaise with boards and management across Scotland, England, and Northern Ireland as needed, gaining exposure to a range of sectors while travelling if required.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified in a relevant discipline or able to demonstrate equivalent experience.
• Have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in internal audit with the confidence to lead audits and liaise directly with clients at all levels.
• Ideally hold, or be working towards, a professional qualification (e.g. CIIA); we’ll support you to complete this if appropriate.
• Skilled at planning and delivering assignments to a high standard while meeting deadlines.
• A clear and positive communicator who can build strong relationships with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.
• Comfortable coaching and supporting junior team members as part of a collaborative team environment.
• Proactive, adaptable, and motivated by making a tangible impact across a diverse range of sectors and organisations.

Responsibilities

• Supervising and reviewing work of junior members of the team
• Acting as a Senior on internal audit assignments
• Liaising with clients
• Taking ownership of all assignments from planning through to completion
• Attending audit committee meetings
• Developing and assisting in winning new business
• Any other appropriate tasks, as directed
