Job summary

HMRC is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer within the Tooling & Automation team to lead and support infrastructure engineers while building a secure, scalable tooling stack hosted on AWS. The postholder will drive live-service continuity, architecture alignment and continuous improvement across Nexus 3, GitLab, Bastion, AWX, Vault, Jenkins and Artifactory.

You will collaborate with product managers, service owners and architects, delivering using Agile practices and ensuring documentation

Qualifications

• Cloud and OS: AWS and Linux/RHEL experience.
• Automation: CI/CD and infrastructure automation tooling.
• Containers and networking: Docker and proxy tech.
• Live tooling: Nexus, Artifactory, Vault, Jenkins, AWX experience.
• ITIL, DevOps and Agile delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead BAU support for tooling services and manage incidents and changes within HMRC standards.
• Oversee maintenance and lifecycle of Nexus 3, GitLab, Bastion Services, AWX, Vault, Jenkins and Artifactory.
• Maintain AWS-hosted infrastructure, OS, containers, networking, automation and CI/CD capabilities.
• Translate architectural designs into secure, supportable tooling solutions.
• Deliver work through Agile practices and update documentation and HMRC standards records.
• Coach engineers, engage with product managers, service owners and suppliers.
