Job summary

SSE plc is seeking a Lead Principal Engineer – HVDC P&C to provide technical leadership across multi-project offshore HVDC infrastructure. The role focuses on development, standardisation and continuous improvement of HVDC P&C strategies with emphasis on safety, regulatory compliance and delivery excellence.

You will lead a team of engineers, resolve design issues, and collaborate with technology providers to shape future HVDC solutions.

Qualifications

Proven track record delivering complex HVDC P&C engineering outcomes.
Strong initiative with collaborative decision making to solve complex problems.
Deep technical knowledge of HVDC P&C engineering, CDM & ESQCR, and industry standards.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Engineering degree; Chartered Engineer status preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership and accountability for HVDC P&C engineering initiatives, meeting business, regulatory and safety requirements.
Drive proactive resolution of technical issues across the programme with collaborative problem solving.
Guide and nurture a team of specialist engineers across the business.
Promote health, safety and environmental excellence, ensuring compliance with CDM, ESQCR and SSEN standards.
Drive innovation and engage with industry forums to shape best practice.
Engage with technology providers to understand new solutions and feed into future strategies.
