Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Principal Cable System Design Engineer to lead HV/EHV cable system projects across the UK and globally. The role involves design, routing, performance modelling, and high-level client engagement to deliver safe, compliant solutions. You will mentor the team and contribute to standards and digital delivery strategies.

Qualifications

• Technical leadership in HV/EHV cable system design.
• Experience with tunnel, urban and constrained environments.
• Familiar with National Grid TPs, IEC and CIGRÉ guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Lead large-scale HV/EHV cable system projects from concept to completion.
• Provide input on routing, burial risk, thermal and mechanical performance modelling.
• Validate calculations for ampacity, short-circuit forces, EMC, and induced voltages.
• Engage with clients and stakeholders delivering technical assurance and direction.
• Coordinate across civil, structural, OHL, substation, and marine inputs.
