Job summary
Mott MacDonald is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer (HV Cable Design) to join our Transmission & Distribution team. You will design and deliver high‑voltage cable systems for onshore and offshore projects, collaborating with cross‑functional teams to ensure safe, reliable energy delivery across the UK.
You will conduct FEED and feasibility work, engage with stakeholders during consenting, and stay abreast of HV cable technologies.
Qualifications
- Degree in Electrical Engineering is essential.
- Experience as a transmission cable systems engineer is required.
- Strong analytical and communication skills are necessary.
Responsibilities
- HVAC/HVDC Cable System Design for Onshore and Offshore projects from concept to implementation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate HV cables into substations and grid networks.
- Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and cost analyses for transmission cable projects.
- Front End Engineering Design (FEED) for cable system integration in major projects.
- Coordinate with civil and environmental teams for consenting related to cable systems.
- Tender and Detail Design for transmission cable systems from concept to construction detail.
- Troubleshoot and resolve transmission cable issues during installation and operation.
