Job summary

AECOM is seeking experienced Senior Cable System Design Engineers to join our expanding Transmission & Distribution team in the UK. You will deliver full lifecycle HV/EHV cable packages from feasibility through commissioning, collaborating with civil,substation and OHL teams on onshore projects.

Role requires FEED experience, knowledge of IEC/CIGRÉ/NG-TPs and proficiency with CYMCAP, WinCable, AutoCAD and Revit. Chartered Engineer (CEng) or progress towards chartership is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in Cable System Design Engineering for HV/EHV transmission and distribution projects. FEED experience is essential.
• Knowledge of IEC, CIGRÉ, and NG-TPs standards and interfaces.
• Ability to perform cable routing, burial risk assessments, and electrical/thermal analyses.

Responsibilities

• Deliver full lifecycle cable engineering packages from feasibility to commissioning.
• Review HV cable system designs including route development and burial risk assessments.
• Perform cable rating and system studies (ampacity, short-circuit forces, thermal stability).
• Carry out cable pulling, jointing, cleating, and installation feasibility studies.
• Collaborate with civil, structural, substation and OHL teams for integrated solutions.
• Support FAT/SAT, installation, and commissioning activities and third-party inspections.
