Mott MacDonald is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer (HV Cable Design) to join our Transmission & Distribution team. You will design, implement, and maintain HV cable systems for onshore and offshore projects, collaborating across disciplines to deliver safe, reliable energy transmission.

The role emphasizes FEED leadership, feasibility studies, and design integration with substations and grids, with a flexible hybrid working policy and opportunities to impact large-scale energy infrastructure

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• Experience as a transmission cable systems engineer.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to solve complex problems in transmission power cables.
• Willingness to take on new challenges and work on tasks beyond prior experience.
• Good written communication skills.
• Excellent communication and people skills.

Responsibilities

• HVAC/HVDC cable system design for onshore and offshore projects.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate cables into substations and grids.
• Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments and cost analyses.
• Lead FEED and interface with civil and environmental teams for consenting.
• Participate in tender and detailed design stages for transmission cables.
• Troubleshoot cable issues during installation and operation.
• Stay updated on HV cable materials and transmission tech.
