Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Senior Cable System Design Engineer to join our Transmission & Distribution team in a hybrid London setting. You will deliver end-to-end cable packages, review complex designs, and coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams across global projects.

The role focuses on feasibility, detailed design, installation supervision, and commissioning of onshore infrastructure for clients including National Grid and private developers. Strong FEED and standards knowledge is essential.

Qualifications

HV/EHV cable design experience with FEED exposure.
Understanding of onshore cable routing and burial risk.
Knowledge of IEC, CIGRÉ and NG-TPs standards.
Experience with ECI, subsea controls and testing.
Experience with third-party inspection and verification.

Responsibilities

Deliver full lifecycle cable engineering packages from feasibility through commissioning.
Review HV cable system designs including route development, burial risk, thermal, electromagnetic and mechanical calculations.
Perform cable rating studies: ampacity, short circuit, thermal stability and EMI analysis.
Carry out cable pulling, jointing, cleating and installation feasibility studies.
Collaborate with civil, structural, substation and OHL teams for integrated solutions.
Support FAT/SAT, installation and commissioning activities.
Interface with manufacturers and contractors to verify IEC/CIGRÉ/NG-TP standards.
Participate in client meetings and multidisciplinary coordination.
