Job summary

The Education Specialists are recruiting for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support pupils with Special Educational Needs in a specialist setting in Greater Manchester. The role involves 1:1 and small-group SEN support, and leading learning activities under teacher supervision.

You'll work with teachers to deliver differentiated learning, manage behaviours, and help pupils develop academic, social and emotional skills in a nurturing, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• Experience as HLTA, SEN TA or similar role.
• Experience with SEMH and challenging behaviour desirable.
• Ability to lead learning activities independently.
• Commitment to inclusive specialist education.

Responsibilities

• Support teaching and learning across the setting.
• Lead planned lessons and learning activities when required.
• Provide targeted 1:1 and small-group SEN support.
• Support pupils with SEMH, behavioural and emotional needs.
• Work with teachers to deliver differentiated learning.
• Build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
• Assist with behaviour management and emotional regulation.
• Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to staff.
• Encourage independence, confidence and engagement.
• Support pupils to overcome barriers to learning.
• Contribute to a safe, nurturing learning environment.
