Job summary

Justteachers Ltd in Cambridge is seeking an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN setting. This full-time role involves leading lessons in the teacher’s absence, delivering targeted interventions, and driving pupil progress in a nurturing environment.

The successful candidate will have HLTA status or equivalent experience, be confident in leading classes, and possess strong communication and teamwork skills, with an Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).

Qualifications

• HLTA status or equivalent school experience.
• Experience supporting children with SEN (e.g., ASD, SEMH, complex needs).
• Strong understanding of the national curriculum and differentiated learning.
• Confident in leading classes and delivering structured activities.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead lessons and learning activities in the absence of the teacher.
• Deliver targeted interventions to individuals and small groups with SEN.
• Support planning, preparation and adaptation of learning materials.
• Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies.
• Support pupils’ academic, social, and personal development.
• Monitor, assess, and report pupil progress.
