Job summary

Valley College Blackpool is seeking a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support learners with complex needs under the direction of qualified teachers. The HLTA will contribute to planning, delivery and evaluation of learning, including independent delivery of agreed programmes where appropriate.

Based at Valley College Blackpool, the role involves promoting inclusion, engagement and progress, enabling learners to access a broad and meaningful curriculum and to develop PACE, Citizenship

Responsibilities

• Lead learning within agreed frameworks, delivering lessons or targeted interventions planned by a qualified teacher.
• Support high-quality teaching and learning, modelling effective practice and supporting other staff.
• Promote positive relationships and behaviour using trauma-informed approaches.
• Contribute to assessment and progress monitoring, providing feedback to inform planning.
• Champion inclusion and learner voice to ensure belonging and progress academically, socially and emotionally.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists and pastoral teams to deliver integrated learner support.
• Maintain high expectations, helping learners develop independence and readiness for next steps.
