Job summary

Aldwych Consulting seeks a Senior/Principal Highway & Infrastructure Design Engineer to join its Manchester team. You will lead design and delivery of highway, drainage and infrastructure schemes, taking ownership of complex projects within a multidisciplinary environment.

Qualifications

• Strong UK consultancy experience within highways and infrastructure design.
• Proven experience delivering highway schemes through design and technical approval.
• Strong knowledge of highway design, drainage and infrastructure.
• Experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Good understanding of DMRB, Manual for Streets and relevant UK design standards.
• Experience working on S278/S38 schemes.
• Strong project management and client-facing experience.
• Ability to lead technical work and support the development of more junior engineers.
• Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Chartered or working towards Chartership with ICE, CIHT or an equivalent professional body.

Responsibilities

• Leading the delivery of highway, drainage and infrastructure design packages.
• Managing projects and technical workstreams through the approval process.
• Delivering Section 278 and Section 38 highway schemes, with knowledge of Section 104 and 106 agreements.
• Producing and reviewing detailed designs using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Applying relevant standards including DMRB, Manual for Streets and drainage guidance.
• Reviewing technical drawings, reports and design information.
• Liaising directly with clients, local authorities and wider project teams.
• Managing project programmes, resources and technical deliverables.
• Providing technical guidance and mentoring to engineers and technicians.
• Supporting the development of the wider team and contributing to business growth.
• Taking responsibility for the quality and technical delivery of your projects.
