Job summary

Recruit4staff is seeking a Senior HGV Mechanic to service, maintain and repair a fleet of HGVs, tippers and plant equipment in North Liverpool. The role emphasizes fault diagnosis, safety and mentoring junior technicians.

Based in a busy fleet workshop, the post requires the ability to work independently and to uphold high standards of maintenance and compliance, with a permanent contract and standard daytime hours.

Qualifications

• Experience servicing, maintaining and repairing HGVs.
• Practical fault diagnosis across mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems.
• Ability to work independently and support junior team members.
• Strong understanding of vehicle maintenance and workshop safety procedures.
• Experience in a busy fleet maintenance environment.

Responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled servicing, preventative maintenance and repairs across a fleet of HGVs, tippers and plant equipment.
• Diagnose and rectify mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults.
• Prepare vehicles for MOT testing and ensure fleet is maintained to high standards.
• Provide technical guidance and support to junior team members.

Job Role: As a Senior HGV Mechanic, you will be responsible for carrying out scheduled servicing, preventative maintenance and repairs across a fleet of HGVs, tippers and plant equipment. The role involves diagnosing and rectifying mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults, preparing vehicles for MOT testing and ensuring fleet vehicles are maintained to a high standard. You will also provide technical guidance and support to junior team members.

Essential Skills, Experience, or Qualifications:

• Previous experience servicing, maintaining and repairing HGVs.
• Practical experience of mechanical maintenance and fault diagnosis.
• Ability to work independently and support junior team members.
• A strong understanding of vehicle maintenance and workshop safety procedures.
• The ability to carry out Senior HGV Mechanic responsibilities in a busy fleet maintenance environment.

Advantageous Skills, Experience, or Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Goods Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or an equivalent qualification.
• HGV Class 1 or Class 2 driving licence.
• Previous experience working with tippers or plant equipment.
• Experience in a Senior HGV Mechanic or similar senior workshop position.
