Job summary

Kemp Recruitment Limited is seeking a Senior HGV Technician in Liverpool. You will service, inspect and repair a mixed fleet of commercial vehicles including HGVs, trailers and road sweepers, diagnosing mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults with modern diagnostic equipment.

We are looking for an experienced technician with strong fault-finding skills and a proactive approach to preventative maintenance.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic or Heavy Vehicle Fitter.
• Strong mechanical knowledge and fault-finding skills across HGV systems.
• Experience with servicing, preventative maintenance, safety inspections and MOT preparation.
• Desirable: NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Carrying out servicing, inspections, preventative maintenance and repairs across a varied commercial vehicle fleet.
• Diagnosing and rectifying mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults using appropriate diagnostic equipment.
• Preparing vehicles for MOTs and ensuring all work meets required safety and compliance standards.
• Maintaining specialist road sweeper equipment, including hydraulic systems, pumps, brushes and suction systems.
• Completing job cards, inspection sheets and maintenance records accurately.
• Supporting other technicians and apprentices with technical guidance and complex fault diagnosis.
• Identifying recurring faults and helping reduce vehicle downtime through effective preventative maintenance.

Are you an experienced HGV Technician looking for a senior, hands‑on role with a varied fleet and excellent earning potential? We’re looking for a skilled Senior HGV Technician to join an established workshop team in Liverpool. You’ll work on a diverse fleet of HGVs, trailers, 8‑wheel tippers, road sweepers, vans and plant equipment, playing a key role in keeping vehicles safe, roadworthy and operational. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive technician who enjoys tackling complex faults, sharing technical knowledge and helping maintain high standards across a busy workshop.

Desirable: NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (or equivalent), experience with tippers or road sweepers, hydraulic systems, diagnostic equipment and a Class 1 or Class 2 HGV licence.
