Job summary

Government Recruitment Service is seeking a Heavy Vehicle Technical Officer in Doncaster to assess complex heavy vehicle applications and ensure compliance with DVSA standards. You will collaborate with operators, manufacturers and policy teams to deliver accurate technical advice and robust processing across the vehicle testing network.

The role focuses on first tests, conversions and ECWVTA applications, contributing to safe, compliant operations in a busy public sector environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional assessment of heavy vehicle statutory test applications for first test and vehicle conversion, checking reports and supporting documentation to ensure compliance.
• Provide technical support to non-technical processing teams and act as advisory service to operators, manufacturers, trade organisations, and the public.
• Respond to technical queries from processing teams and external stakeholders in a timely manner.
• Investigate possible solutions to solve issues or mitigate risks.
• Collaborate with the Vehicle Policy Team on new initiatives and developing requirements and standards.
