Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Senior / Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join our Southwest & Wales team, focusing on ground characterisation, geotechnical assessment and design.

You will work across Bristol, Cardiff and Exeter offices, contributing to diverse infrastructure projects in Southwest England and Wales. The role offers hybrid working and opportunities to mentor juniors while delivering technically robust solutions.

Qualifications

• Degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, Geotechnical Engineering or related discipline.
• Strong experience in geotechnical engineering, engineering geology or geological investigation.
• Ability to plan, supervise and interpret geotechnical ground investigations.
• Ability to interpret geological and ground data and develop robust ground models.
• Experience with geotechnical assessments, modelling and design.

Responsibilities

• Plan and manage geotechnical ground investigations and surveys with scopes and schedules.
• Review borehole logs, trial pits, and lab results to understand site conditions.
• Develop ground models and geological interpretations for design.
• Conduct geotechnical analysis and design using standard methods and software.
• Prepare and peer-review geotechnical reports and Geotechnical Design Reports.
• Assess geotechnical risks with multidisciplinary teams throughout projects.
• Collaborate with clients, contractors and drilling teams for delivery.
• Mentor junior colleagues and share knowledge within the team.
