The Ellison Institute of Technology Oxford invites applications for a (Senior) Scientist to design, develop and evaluate novel computational methods translating metagenomic sequencing data into actionable results for clinical or public health use.

You will build ML/AI models for pathogen genomics, collaborating with bioinformaticians, data scientists and software engineers to advance diagnostic tools within a fast-growing, interdisciplinary team.

Qualifikationen

• PhD or equivalent experience in a quantitative field such as computational biology, computer science, mathematics, or physics.
• Track record of developing computational algorithms or tools in the genomics space (e.g., sequence search/storage, genome assembly/annotation, pangenome graphs, or phylogenetics).
• AI/ML ownership of model training and evaluation at scale with deep understanding of methods and architectures.
• Solid programming skills and software development best practices (version control, CI/CD).

Aufgaben

• Design, develop, and evaluate computational algorithms for taxonomic classification and antimicrobial resistance.
• Develop ML/AI techniques for pathogen genomics applications in collaboration with scientists across EIT.
• Validate and benchmark methods using public and internal datasets; work with engineers to implement in scalable workflows.
• Communicate technical work clearly to interdisciplinary teams.
