Job summary

Ellison Institute of Technology (EIT) invites applications for a (Senior) Scientist to design, develop, and evaluate computational methods translating metagenomic sequencing into actionable insights for clinical or public health use.

You will build algorithms and ML/AI models for infectious disease diagnostics, collaborate with bioinformaticians, data scientists, microbiologists and engineers, and contribute to scalable, reproducible workflows in a fast‑moving program.

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent in a quantitative field such as computational biology, computer science, mathematics or physics.
• Track record of developing computational algorithms or tools in genomics, with ownership of model training and evaluation.
• Strong command of data structures, algorithms, and statistical methods relevant to genomics.
• Solid programming skills and software development practices (version control, CI/CD).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and evaluate novel computational algorithms in areas like taxonomic classification and antimicrobial resistance.
• Develop ML/AI techniques to address real-world pathogen genomics problems in collaboration with scientists across EIT.
• Validate and benchmark methods using public and internal datasets; implement methods in scalable, reproducible workflows.
• Communicate technical work clearly to interdisciplinary teams.
