Ellison Institute of Technology (EIT) in Oxford is seeking a Bioinformatician to analyse, validate and improve bioinformatics workflows that turn raw sequencing data into actionable insights. The role involves collaboration with senior scientists to apply analytical approaches to infectious disease genomics and translational research.

You will work with metagenomic data, apply microbial profiling and antimicrobial resistance analysis, and contribute to reproducible computational biology

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent in bioinformatics or related field with hands-on experience.
• Experience analyzing next-generation sequencing data, preferably metagenomics or microbial genomics.
• Understanding metagenomic principles and challenges in complex microbial communities.
• Strong Python and Bash programming skills; R desirable.
• Exposure to workflow managers and container tech for reproducible workflows.
• Clear communicator, curious learner, team-oriented problem solver.

Responsibilities

• Develop, apply and improve reproducible bioinformatics workflows for WGS and metagenomic data.
• Support interpretation of complex sequencing datasets and assess analytical approaches.
• Write clean, reproducible code and share expertise with colleagues.
• Stay current with advances in infectious disease genomics and metagenomics analytics.
• Collaborate in a hybrid, high-performance team environment to drive project outcomes.
