Job description

Alchemy is excited to be working with a leading gallery that is looking to expand their team with the role of Senior Registrar / Shipping Manager in London.

This individual will report directly to the Head of Shipping and will be responsible for overseeing the scheduling and execution of multiple projects both domestically and internationally, ensuring all shipments are delivered safely, professionally, on time, and in line with company standards.

Responsibilities:

1. Obtain shipping quotes from approved shippers for inbound and outbound shipment of artworks, negotiating bespoke shipping costs for complex shipments and installations.
2. Manage each shipment to meet bespoke client needs, including packing specifications, paperwork, liaising with regulatory bodies, and sourcing and booking freight.
3. Monitor international and domestic outbound shipments, troubleshoot issues promptly, and keep stakeholders informed.
4. Ensure shipments comply with local and international regulations, such as export and CITES licenses.
5. Collaborate with Pre-Sale, Post-Sale, Art Technician, and Logistics teams to deliver projects accurately, cost-effectively, and on schedule.
6. Notify the Head of Department of any escalated issues from clients or internal teams.

Skills and qualifications:

• Extensive experience in a Registrar or fine art logistics role within a gallery or fine art shipping company.
• Strong organizational, analytical, managerial, and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and written skills.
• Decisive and quick thinking, aligning actions with company standards and values.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
