Job overview

Applications are invited for a Specialty Registrar post in Urology based at Whipps Cross Hospital, starting in November 2025. The successful applicant will work with existing staff to meet NHS waiting times and performance targets.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will contribute to inpatient care, rotating responsibilities with colleagues. Opportunities include training in Urological surgery, transperineal prostate biopsies, urodynamics, and flexible endoscopy.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will support postgraduate training, supervise foundation doctors, and participate in an on-call rota (1 in 8), with a pay banding supplement for middle grade participation.

Person specification

Qualifications & Higher Qualifications

  • MBBS or equivalent
  • MRCS or equivalent
  • BSc or higher degree

Knowledge & Clinical Expertise in Specialty/Sub-Specialty

  • SHO experience in General Surgery and Urology
  • Middle Grade experience in Urology

Training Expected & Management/Audit Experience

  • Planned career in Urology

Academic Achievements & Research/Publications

  • Publications in peer-reviewed journals
  • Presentations at local, national, and international meetings

Personal Skills

  • Good command of spoken and written English
