Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland seeks a Senior Flood Risk and Drainage Consultant to deliver FCAs/FRAs and sustainable drainage strategies for technically complex schemes across the UK. You’ll work within the national Sustainable Water Management team, collaborating on planning, EIA inputs, and SAB submissions while mentoring junior staff.

The role requires experience in drainage design, hydraulic modelling, and knowledge of UK regulatory frameworks.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering FRAs and FCAs, preferably in consultancy.
• Delivery of drainage strategies and SAB submissions in UK contexts.
• Hydraulic modelling and drainage design using industry tools.
• Proficiency with GIS platforms (ArcGIS/QGIS/MapInfo).
• Knowledge of UK regulatory context for flood risk and drainage approvals.
• Inputs for planning and permitting for major infrastructure projects.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; some commercial experience.

Responsibilities

• Carry out and supervise FCA/FRA tasks on varied schemes.
• Contribute to sustainable drainage strategy design for complex projects.
• Oversee feasibility studies and supporting drawings.
• Prepare SAB submissions with Local Authorities.
• Deliver Section 19 Flood Investigations.
• Provide technical oversight and training to junior consultants.
• Support team tendering and business development.
• Lead project management activities, including finances and schedules.
• Coordinate meetings with project teams and clients.
