Job summary

WSP is seeking a Senior Flood Risk and Drainage Consultant to deliver flood risk assessments and drainage solutions for Local Authority projects. You will work on multi-disciplinary teams, develop flood strategies, and support planning for energy, highway, and rail sectors to secure consent.

You will mentor junior staff, manage projects, and ensure high-quality technical outputs while adhering to policy frameworks such as the Flood Risk Management Act and NPF4.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering local authority flood risk services (e.g., Sustainable Drainage Systems, Flood Risk Management Plans, Strategic Flood Risk Assessments).
• Experience delivering Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategies to support planning for new developments.
• Ability to manage budgets and lead delivery of projects and outputs related to flood risk management or sustainable drainage.

Responsibilities

• Lead or contribute to the delivery of high-quality technical deliverables for clients, including technical review and sign-off.
• Mentor junior colleagues and oversee small project teams, balancing programme, budget and quality.
• Identify opportunities to secure projects and extensions while coordinating meetings with clients and internal teams.
