Job summary

Wickes is seeking a Senior Financial Controls Manager to advance our Key Financial Controls framework in a fast-paced FTSE 250 retail environment. You will partner with the Finance Leadership Team to optimise controls, drive automation ahead of an ERP transition, and own the framework lifecycle with strong commercial accountability.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with ACA/ACCA/CIMA.
• University degree or equivalent.
• 5+ years PQE in Big 4 or FTSE 250 organisations in finance, audit, risk, or internal controls.
• Senior Manager level experience in a fast-moving retail environment is desirable.
• Proven ability to drive control scope rationalisation and automation during ERP implementations.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic review and rationalisation of the Key Financial Controls framework.
• Automate controls ahead of ERP implementation and ensure risk coverage.
• Direct annual testing strategy and deep-dive into near misses and root causes.
• Oversee quality of workpapers and audit readiness.
• Engage Directors and FLT with high-trust, high-challenge relationships.
• Design remediation plans with business control owners and track progress.
• Leverage Corestream to maintain RACMs and monitor automation metrics.
• Support the Controls Analyst in day-to-day administration and reporting.
• Deliver narrative reports for FLT and ARC with ERP milestones and risks.
