Job summary

SSE plc invites applications for a Fixed Term Contract/Secondment up to 18 months in our Financial Controls Centre of Excellence. The role reports to the Head of Financial Controls and focuses on maintaining and strengthening the financial control framework within a rapidly changing finance function.

You will engage with Controllers, Process Leads and business unit FDs, build relationships, lead assurance cycles, and drive training and improvements, with locations including Glasgow, Perth,

Qualifications

• Professional qualification (ACCA, ACA, ICAS, IIA or equivalent) with 3+ years PQE in a large organisation or practice.
• Strong understanding of finance processes, risk assessment and internal control frameworks.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with ability to influence at senior levels.

Responsibilities

• Act as a trusted advisor to first-line teams, maintaining robust financial controls and providing reporting to stakeholders.
• Build strong relationships across Finance and business units, including Finance Directors and external auditors.
• Champion training and upskilling to ensure the first line has necessary control skills.
• Collaborate with IT and Finance to enhance processes and integrate controls into operations.
• Continuously evolve the financial control framework to keep pace with business change.
