Job summary

SSE plc is offering a fixed-term contract/secondment (up to 18 months) for a senior financial controls professional. The role focuses on ensuring robust financial controls, reporting, and assurance across the Group Finance function.

Base location options include Glasgow and Perth, with a 50% travel expectation to multiple sites in the UK. You will partner with Controllers, Process Leads and finance leadership to strengthen the control environment and support SSE's five-year Finance Blueprint.

Qualifications

• Professional qualification (ACCA, ACA, ICAS, IIA or equivalent) with 3+ years PQE in a large organisation or practice.
• Strong understanding of finance processes, risk assessment, and internal control frameworks.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills at senior levels.

Responsibilities

• Act as a trusted advisor to first-line teams, helping maintain robust financial controls and provide insightful reporting.
• Build relationships across Finance and the business, including Finance Directors and external auditors.
• Champion training to ensure first line has necessary skills and understanding.
• Collaborate with IT and Finance to enhance processes and integrate controls into operations.
• Evolve the financial control framework to keep pace with business change.
