Job summary

Pencil, a London-based SaaS company shaping advertising with Generative AI, seeks a Financial Controller to own financial controls, cash flow, and day-to-day finance operations. Reporting to Head of Finance, you will build the controls framework and drive month-end close as Pencil scales.

You will work with a lean team, implement AI-powered finance workflows, review management accounts and revenue recognition, and ensure compliant, efficient processes across P2P, O2C, payroll, and expenses.

Qualifications

• UK-qualified accountant with ACCA/ACA/CIMA.
• 5+ years finance experience, including 2+ in industry.
• Experience with SaaS or high-growth tech is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own and strengthen internal control framework across P2P, O2C, payroll, expenses.
• Review management accounts, revenue recognition, and AP runs.
• Own monthly cost/expense workings and audit controls.
• Own cash flow forecasting and treasury; sign-off on bank payments.
• Provide senior judgement on accruals, revenue treatment, risk.
• Oversee relationships and AI policy; streamline operations with AI.
