Senior Experimentation & Growth Scientist

Tripadvisor; Greater London; On-site; GBP 90,000 - 120,000; Full time

Job summary

Tripadvisor is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to partner with Product and Engineering to design and run investigations, guiding teams on how to set up and interpret experiments. You will shape measurement frameworks, improve experimentation velocity, and tackle complex scenarios where traditional A/B tests fall short.

You will build robust metric systems, apply Bayesian methods and multi-arm bandits, and mentor junior data scientists while ensuring products scale safely across markets and time.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in data science or a similar quantitative role influencing a product organisation.
• Authoritative command of experimentation, from design and variance reduction to causal inference, bandits and Bayesian methods.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL with hands-on modelling and scalable experimentation techniques.
• Ability to define, implement and operationalise product and feature metrics from scratch.

Responsibilities

• Own the experimentation and measurement strategy for your domain from framing questions to decision review.
• Provide guidance, tooling and protocols that improve partner teams' experimentation velocity without sacrificing rigour.
• Lead the design of experiments where a standard A/B test is not sufficient (low traffic, shared supply, long-horizon outcomes).
• Explain how results generalise across users, markets and time beyond simple significance.
• Assess impact of decisions on platform health and growth, flag longer-term costs of short-term wins.
• Define and operationalise the metric framework with guardrails for slow-observing outcomes.
