Job summary

Tripadvisor is seeking a Data Scientist for its experimentation team to measure and guide product changes across Viator. You will set metrics, build tooling, and enable teams to run robust experiments with clear documentation.

You will work closely with Product Managers and Engineers to design tests, analyse results, and present actionable insights. This role emphasizes causal inference, scalability, and cross-team collaboration.

Qualifications

• Solid experience in data science or a similar quantitative role, supporting and influencing product teams.
• Sound understanding of experimentation beyond running it through a platform, including statistical power and minimum detectable effect.
• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL, with hands-on experience of statistical analysis and experimentation.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyse experiments end to end with product teams you support, working directly with the Product Managers and Engineers who will act on the results.
• Turn product questions into testable hypotheses with pre-registered primary metrics and guardrails.
• Define and instrument feature-level metrics and understand how metric choice affects interpretation.
• Investigate results properly, ensuring data quality and avoiding misinterpretation.
• Build reusable queries, tooling and templates to help teams run experiments faster.
• Communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences, with actionable recommendations.
