Job summary

Tripadvisor Group is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to lead experimentation and measurement across product domains. You will partner with Product and Engineering to set up investigations, interpret results, and guide decisions.

You will design experiments beyond traditional A/B tests, improving speed and rigour while ensuring results generalise across markets and time. A strong analytics mindset and mentorship are essential.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in data science or a similar quantitative role with influence on product decisions.
• Authoritative command of experimentation, including design, variance reduction, causal inference, and Bayesian methods.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL with hands-on modelling and ML techniques.

Responsibilities

• Own the experimentation and measurement strategy for your domain from framing questions to decision review.
• Provide guidance, tooling and protocols to improve experimentation velocity and rigour.
• Lead designs where standard A/B tests are insufficient (low-traffic, long-horizon outcomes, censored data).
• Go beyond whether a change worked to why and whether it generalises across users, markets and time.
• Assess how decisions affect platform health and growth, flag long-term costs.
• Define and operationalise the metric framework with guardrails and proxies for delayed outcomes.
• Improve measurement sensitivity via metric design, variance reduction and better exposure definitions.
• Standardise analytics and experimentation processes using automation and AI where beneficial.
• Influence roadmaps using evidence and push back when evidence is weak.
• Mentor junior data scientists and raise technical quality across teams.
