Job summary

Laing O'Rourke is seeking a Senior Environment Advisor for the Great Grid Upgrade project. The role is based on-site at High Marnham substation with ad hoc travel to our Birmingham project hub.

You will lead environmental management across construction activities and support sustainability targets across two new substations. Ideal candidates have strong experience in construction or infrastructure, knowledge of ISO 14001, and a track record in managing environmental compliance, audits, and

Qualifications

• Experience in environmental compliance monitoring on construction/infrastructure
• Knowledge of ISO 14001 auditing and implementation
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
• Experience with BREEAM and Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG)
• Ability to travel between project sites and work independently
• Degree in Environmental Science or related field or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site environmental management and advice to project teams throughout construction
• Implement and monitor environmental management systems in line with ISO 14001
• Lead environmental audits and inspections per legislative and client requirements
• Support delivery of BREEAM, Biodiversity Net Gain and carbon reduction strategies
• Collaborate with designers and engineers to embed sustainability
• Prepare environmental documentation and client communications
• Champion environmental awareness and continuous improvement on-site
