Job summary

Laing O'Rourke is recruiting a Senior Civil Engineer to lead on a major power infrastructure project in the UK. You will provide technical leadership on site, manage earthworks, concrete structures and foundations, and ensure delivery to schedule and budget.

You will mentor engineers and coordinate with design teams, clients, and suppliers. The role requires a Civil Engineering degree, proven main-contractor experience, and strong leadership and stakeholder skills.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience delivering civil engineering works within power, energy, or major infrastructure sectors.
• Strong technical knowledge of heavy civils and complex construction environments.
• Experience working for a main contractor on large, multi-disciplinary projects.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proactive, solutions-focused approach with a strong commercial awareness.
• Chartered or working towards chartership (ICE or equivalent) is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage civil engineering activities on power sector construction projects.
• Provide technical expertise across earthworks, concrete structures, foundations, drainage, and associated infrastructure.
• Oversee setting out, temporary works coordination, and construction methodologies.
• Ensure works are delivered in line with design, specifications, programme, and budget.
• Manage and mentor engineers and site teams, promoting best practice and continuous improvement.
• Liaise closely with design teams, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Drive high standards of health, safety, quality, and environmental performance.
• Support planning, risk management, and technical assurance processes.
