Job summary

Laing O'Rourke is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to lead civil engineering activities on a major power infrastructure project in the UK. You will provide on-site technical leadership, ensure works meet design, standards and budget, and mentor site teams to deliver high-quality results.

Located in Chesterfield/Derby area, the role requires chartered or working toward chartership and a proactive, solutions-focused approach with strong commercial awareness.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience delivering civil works in power, energy, or major infrastructure sectors.
• Strong knowledge of heavy civils and complex construction environments.
• Experience working for a main contractor on large, multi-disciplinary projects.
• Chartered or working towards chartership (ICE or equivalent) is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage civil engineering activities on power sector construction projects.
• Provide technical expertise across earthworks, concrete structures, foundations, drainage, and associated infrastructure.
• Oversee setting out, temporary works coordination, and construction methodologies.
• Ensure works are delivered in line with design, specifications, programme, and budget.
• Manage and mentor engineers and site teams, promoting best practice and continuous improvement.
• Liaise closely with design teams, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Drive high standards of health, safety, quality, and environmental performance.
• Support planning, risk management, and technical assurance processes.
