Job summary

Laing O'Rourke is seeking an Environmental Advisor for the Great Grid Upgrade, splitting time between Kiln Lane on-site and field duties across UK sites. You will ensure environmental compliance, support EMS/CEMP, and work with multi-disciplinary teams to embed sustainability in construction activities.

The role requires hands-on fieldwork, audits, and proactive guidance to site personnel, with travel between Kiln Lane (Friston, Suffolk) and Norwich/Tilbury as needed.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Environmental Advisor in construction or energy.
• Strong knowledge of environmental legislation and standards for large infrastructure projects.
• Experience in-field monitoring: water sampling, noise/vibration monitoring.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel across project sites.

Responsibilities

• Monitor environmental compliance on-site per legal requirements and policies.
• Conduct regular environmental audits and inspections on site and in the field.
• Engage with project managers, contractors, and regulators to mitigate risks.
• Provide on-site expert advice and training on environmental best practices to personnel.
• Support implementation of environmental management plans and sustainability initiatives.
• Prepare and submit environmental reports and documentation as required.
