Job summary

Laing O'Rourke is seeking a Senior Environment Advisor for a site-based role on the Great Grid Upgrade. You will lead environmental management for major power infrastructure construction, ensuring compliance and driving sustainable practices across activities.

Responsibilities include ISO 14001 implementation, audits, and supporting BREEAM/BNG and carbon reduction initiatives while collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams across sites and hubs.

Qualifications

• Degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, or related discipline.
• Proven experience in construction or civil infrastructure.
• Working knowledge of ISO 14001 and audit processes.
• Understanding of BREEAM and Biodiversity Net Gain.
• Experience with carbon management strategies.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site environmental management and advice to project teams during construction.
• Lead environmental audits and inspections for compliance with regulations and client requirements.
• Implement and monitor ISO 14001 EMS across the project.
• Support delivery of BREEAM, Biodiversity Net Gain, and carbon reduction strategies.
• Collaborate with designers, engineers and subcontractors to embed sustainability principles.
• Prepare environmental documentation and communications for stakeholders.
• Champion environmental awareness and continuous improvement on-site.
